| Many times firefighters work in the dark. This training helps us learn to work by touch and sound so we can find our victims quicker for positive results.
The images from this post were taken with our new thermal imaging “camera” or TIC; however, this handheld device does not take pictures like a traditional camera.
The TIC creates an image on a screen from the heat signatures in the area or room. This allows the firefighter to be more effective when searching for victims or fire.
While the cost of the cameras are only about 1/6th of the cost from when originally introduced to the fire service, the two cameras recently purchased by the fire company still cost about $5,000.00 each. |
